Google announced that the company plans to set up a Chromebook R&D center in Taiwan, according to a June 1, 2011 report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan. Through the establishment of a Chromebook R&D center, Google aims to tighten its relationship with Taiwanese OEMs (Original Manufacturers) and ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers). It is reported that Google's move in Taiwan is part of its effort to promote its platform in business and educational segments.
